Castello Di Volpaia Chianti Classico Riserva “Coltassala”
2005 - Chianti Classico Riserva Coltassala has a medium garnet colour. Fragrant dark cherry, warm raspeberry, violet and mint aromas on the nose. The medium bodied palate provides plenty of juicy fruit, crisp acidity and a medium level of fine grained tannins to support. A bit of oak is still apparent but the wine is still young and it should marry. Long finish. Drink now to 2020. 2009 - Chianti Classico Riserva Coltassala delivers a long array of berry tones wrapped within firm tannins and fresh acidity. It shows enormous persistency and an impressive finish that is silky and fresh. Five percent Mammolo is added to Sangiovese. Anticipated maturity: 2014 – 2022. Organic certified.

The Castello di Volpaia was built in the 11th century as a fortified village on the Florence/Siena border. Although only part of the original protective walls and two of its six towers are still standing, the medieval layout and buildings within the village are still intact, making Volpaia undoubtedly one of the best preserved villages of its period.
